Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano is going to be DHS Secretary in the Obama Administration. This is a major news for us and it does has an affect on EB community as Gov. Napolitano is a strong proponent of Immigration reform and it is now believed that she has been brought to this position to spearhead the immigration reform in the Obama Administration.

My wife has a non-working SSN. Will she need to convert it (or apply for a new SSN) to working SSN once she starts working persuant to EAD?
Once you received your EAD card, you can apply for SSN.

this is in response to some who say what if India does this and that ...the point is that India will do nothing. In general we have passive leaders and our PM is a great example of that - if it was done against china then immediately there would have retaliation. in some ways it is good if it stops the misuse ...I guess the biggest losers in this are the lawyers - more lawyer shops will close down

most uni's have a indian student association, the contact is usually found on the website, that would the best way to find them, also orkut has alot of desi student in us communities

There are truck loads of Chinese and Indians in Engineering + CS. The word can spread very quickly because everyone has friends in other schools also. They may join for the Q/A part.
I doubt they will contribute. Graduate Teaching/Research Assistants make 12K-/year. Others make much less money then the tuition they pay; then there are living expenses. Also, they are not effected by EB retrogression. What is the motivation for such a person to pay when majority of 50K+/year persons (in deep shit) are not paying.

You are correct. He have no option. Find a job, go back and tell them to do process the H1B, and do consular interview and stamping and come clean. You may have difficulty in approving the petition, or the process may take several months.
What you did a big mistake to ditch a company and go to a sucker. You are not supposed to start with the new company till you get the RECEIPT NOTICE after file for H1B. THAT IS A MISTAKE AND YOU ARE DID ILLEGAL ACTIVITY/JOB FROM THAT POINT OF TIME.
You have no choice but leave US immediately, go for CP, declare your overstay in the DS156 form, come clean to the VO and hope they forgive it.

you could try getting a letter from university that you had completed all the requirements for your degree in 2000 but your degree was formally awarded in 2002

As per the law, your H1B will still be valid even in if I-140 is revoked. However, the only flip side is one will lose the old priority date.
For sure, this is exactly outlined in the law. I have known some cases who are working successfully and legally on H1Bs even after their I-140s revoked (by the way one of them is in 8th year of H1B)

Since it is a consulting company my pay is less unless i go full-time.
I started thinking about going full-time with other companies and got offers from two companies.

I called uscis and they have asked me to refile I-765. They said they will issue new EAD with extended dates. Not sure how long will it take. And i dont believe issuing 3 month EAD was intentional. They probbaly wont have any idea when the 485 would be adjudicated when they approve EAD.

Now the VB is on 2006.
They must have known atleast a month back.
They issued just 3 months extension

Here is the calculation I came up with USCIS processing of our I-485 applications.
USCIS should allocate 140,000 applications in a fiscal year. So, in a month they need to process, at least, 140,000/ 12 = 11,667 applications.
Assuming that they have, at least, 20 working days in a month, they need to process 11,667/ 20 = 584 applications.
So, now the question is, how many employees does USCIS have and are dedicated to the I-485 processing? We don�t know the exact number. Considering that USCIS is getting lot of revenue, they should have, at least, 50 employees doing this work.
So, 584/50 = 12(Approx) applications they need to process in a day, per person.
So, do you think it is viable? Of course, it is�

So, how long does it take to review the I-485 application? Well, when I filled the application, it took me about 1 hour. So, to review it, let�s us say, it takes about 1/2 the time fill the application; that�s about half an hour. Considering the fact that the Congress sidelined foreign legal workers and brains as a backburner issue in the ill-fated CIR, the current Visa Bulletin fiasco appears to add the heat of outrage to the Congress' unfair and unjust treatment of the legal immigrants by leaders in this country. Ok, sadly there is no option in Illustrator 9. At least nothing convenient like when you go to save. I've tried searching in the preferences for anything that would let me save it as a PDF compatible, but no luck. Guess it finally time to upgrade. :emb:
On the bright side there is a lot of good info on sunnypixels about what happens with gradients, strokes, etc. when you import them into Blend.

Family based, majority (90%) is done by consular processing. AOS mostly for EB based. Petition for relatives is from the mother country, who is not present in USA for AOS. Yes - I agree with andy garcia

there is a small shops complex there called chappan dukaan... very famous hangout place for all indorians... just remembered :)
Chappan Dukaan is too good...even non indorians have heard about it...
I just had a morning dream that EB3 will be current in coming months.
May all EBs get current and all desis can switch jobs/companies/professions....
