The filing date on SR is manually entered by the person opening the SR. It has got nothing to do with your real filing date. All that matters on the SR is your A#.

Hello,
Don't like EB-3 dates...but looking at EB-2 dates, does this mean that from now on we will see only forward movement in EB-2 I/C dates?
If the first month of the new year didn't retrogress, would every month see a movement of week or two? Or keeping in great USCIS tradition, this is just another 'fluke'? ;)
Ya I presume your assumption is right regarding EB-2 forward movement. But on a whole the EB-2 India/China dates havent forwarded up to my predictions. But we could expect a steady and consistent movement of EB-2 India/China ahead.

Did any one discussed this with an attorney. May be a conference call with Mr. Rajiv Khanna ? Can anyone from IV core member respond what is their take on such a class action. Will we have the support from IV if such lawsuit is filled.

1. The CIR, which was providing amnesty to aroun 12 million illegal residents in the US,so they wanted to keep the legal residents happy.
2.The DOS wanted to force USCIS to finish its backlog, if the dates were current and USCIS would have to accept our applications then they would have to process a lot of EAD/AP and would required a lot of work, They could put the 485 in queue but not AP/EAD. So the only way for USCIS was to process the backlog(At least many legal residents got GCS)
3.USCIS wanted to avoid accepting these applications till July 30, to get more fees( I think this is the least possible reason)

Can't we work together civilly for this? The illegal aliens speak in one voice and are more easily heard. While immigrants who are supposed to be "highly educated" like us have to fight within ourselves over every issue.

That's exactly what I was talking about. We are not going to have a law that will benefit all of us immediately, but could indirectly and also could take a while to see the effects of it. This does not mean that we try to stall such bills or exclaim that things are not fair as it does not benefit a certain group of people. We need to know that the law makers are at least smarter than all of us here and when they do things they do it with certain reasons and we need to respect that.
All of us also have to remember that though we might me in the top 10% of this countries intellectual communities we are still all foreigners here and we should of course lobby our cause (like IV is currently doing such a great job of) and leave the rest of the burden to the law makers. In continuation of the post from Nenneo, I had the chance to see Newt Gingrich, ex-speaker of the house and who is currently testing the waters for a possible 2008 Pres. nomination from the GOP. His response, I think, speaks volumes about the type of people the GOP would like to see here.
He indicated that he is totally against illegal immigration and pro legal immigration. But, when it came to students who were pursuing higher education in the US, according to Newt, "is a no-brainer, we get them here, we train and teach them, it does not make sense to let them go. These students should be given a visa as soon as they find a job, as long as they have not committed any felony and especially since the students have been in the US for 2+years it is sufficient time to get to know them and their backgrounds and for them to be assimilated in the US way of life."
My 2-cents to clarify the thinking behind giving more preference to US educated students vs non-US educated ones. This coming from a senior GOP leader.

If anyone's I140 is pending at NSC, they thinks otherwise. You will feel other lanes are fast except one which you are. :D it's humane nature and It's ok to vent. you will feel better.;)

There are still many out there who are happily enjoying the fruits of Aman's and other core members' hard work without even knowing what they did for us. For them it's just something that happened on its own. I joined in June and became a contributing member when I came to know the efforts being put in by core. I know for some people shelling out $100 is a big deal, particularly AFTER the victory in this first fight, but guys, think if you were made to wait for 3-4 more years before you were allowed to apply. Your spouses can work now and make more money for your household.

I have read in these forumns that USCIS wasted around 11,000 visas in 2007. The way things go, they will waste another 10,000 visas during this year also.
Stopping this wastage should be our #1 priority. But nobody seems to care about this point. Even Murthy during her discussions with USCIS does not seem to be talking about this wastage. I wonder she is even aware of this problem. May be the lawyers are very happy to extend EAD for each of us for eternity.
As per murthy bulletin, EB3 India might become unavailable or will stay where it is.. If i interpret correctly. Looks like EB3 will remain the same. Very disappointing.

Well, I kind of expected a response to my kind of personal remark in the earlier part of the post than what I wrote later in the message... never mind, that's the human mind.
Don't know about you but I for sure don't rely on just conversing with NGO's or reading news about "atrocities", but actually have involved myself in traveling, teaching and helping institute schools in tribal areas of Jharkhand (Ghatsila-Singhbum), where education had never even reached. The sparkle in their eyes, hospitality and values beats what we find urbanized and modernized world (had the same experience when I visited central Cambodia last month). I also see that casteism is not the same all over in India (a lot less in the west (when I was in Nanded district in Maharashtra) than the north and parts of south) and that it is rapidly changing (compare the caste discrimination 70 years ago with that today, even my active 85 year grandma who has traveled a lot in India, couldn't resist expressing her positive wonderment). The caste discrimination is severe no doubt in certain parts, nor am I trying to water down your experiences - but remember making a blanket statement for 1.2 Billion people demands a lot of explanation!
There is difference working on the ground to make a transformation and witness it from a holistic sense than having a 5 feet level view. Hope you don't take anything personally... but maybe just grasp the gist of my experiences/thoughts.

I guess you don't watch the news where they speak about the various atrocities done on the backward class by the forward class. I feel sorry for your ignorance that is all I can do. When possible go to any NGO social service people and ask about caste system and they will give you ample stories which might shatter your belief. What I agreed with the fellow IV member was on a different issue and I acknowledge the fact that things are wrong in each part of the world and every country has its own share of issues. Just like nobody is perfect not every place is perfect. But not acknowledging the fact that something is so widely prevalent in India just shows how far as an individual you are away from reality.

Even though right now FB2 is not far behind the gap will progressively increase due to post given below. Consider 2 glasses half full. If you pour 50% water from 1 glass to another 1 glass will be 75% full(EB) and other glass will be 25%full(FB).
Our intention is to findout if CIS interpretation is correct. If spouse can stay in the country with EAD and AP and if Primary gets GC first. It won't matter much becos, that EAD will not have any strings attached on same or similar etc. So we should be OK.
