We too got the magic emails saying our 485 has been approved. It was indeed a long journey that started back in 2000. Happy that it all ended well. My priority date is Dec 2005. I did create a service request early August which helped a lot. All the best to the rest of the guys who are waiting for the approval emails.

No. It is a good company and are very careful with things. I have never been in consulting. One good thing they did unlike other companies is they anticipated career growth and filed GC for a higher position and I could gladly accept promotion in my career.

AILF is ready to take the cause up, then why not ? Fragmon & Rajiv Khanna are just two opinions. I think the Congresswoman who spoke out on this issue used to be an immigration lawyer prior to taking up public office & she mentions in her letters to DHS that this may be a potential violation of the law.

The views expressed in the context of sending grammatically correct letters is appreciated. As such, it would make sense if we can send the same letter, which would not only emphasize the same point but would be grammatically correct as well :)

Sending a grammatically incorrect letter is much better than sending no letter or sending one in Jun-10. From last 2 days, I saw no one doing anything. Hence I sent my letter. Correct, I didn't spend too much time on it. If you so care for grammar when are you getting the correct letter out?

If many EB3-I folks are getting GCs then why is EB3-I PD stuck in 2001? Shouldn't it move?
I feel where you are coming from; I am also from the waited four years to get approved from filing 485 club.
btw; every person I know of from India who has gotten green from October 2008 were those eb3 guys who converted to eb2 through perm labor. I have a feeling that this is going to cause a lot of stress to eb2 as many people have been able to obtain old priority dates through eb3. Maybe not much solace but with perm labors taking 9 months to get approved now (most recent approvals were filed in July 2008) it does help India a bit. It is taking longer for eb2 ROW to get into 140/485 que and would cause more visas to be spilled over. If labors were getting approved fast then there would be less spillover in this fiscal year.
Department of State is really playing with people with their continuing change of how they are interpreting the law with regards to visa spillover. In Mid 90's I left USA (one of the reasons; not main reason was because I was told it would take about three years to get greencard; looks like a small wait compared to now).

It ironic that you, of all people who got a GC through EB1, are questioning the importance of intellect over physical labor. It is no secret that human civilization has progressed and prospered only because some people have thought hard and attempted to invent new things. And the current EB preference system clearly reflects that importance of intellectual advancement to any society.
The cabbie or the waiter, with due respect their profession, is a mere cog in the wheel; a facilitator. But you my friend, the high skilled immigrant, have the ability to innovate and help your society progress. You have the education and understanding that can be passed on to future generations.
It is not to say that the waiter cannot invent, but the fact of the matter is five years on and he is still waiting tables.
I wonder if you were waiting in limbo for five-six-seven years, would you have still made this callous remark?

Current estimates suggest that there may be as many as twelve million undocumented immigrants in our country. A balanced approach to immigration reform is needed to contain and reverse this trend. I believe that these provisions can be met without stifling business and economic growth.
In addition, true border security can come only from the increased use of manpower and effective technology together with an efficient and judicious legal immigration application process. The indefinite state of limbo in which many applicants for legal American immigration status find themselves is a part of the problem that we can control. By allocating more resources to efficiently process applications, we can significantly cut wait times for applicants and reduce the influx of undocumented immigrants. The point system has worked well in both Canada and New Zealand and have moved those who meet the threshold through the immigration system faster. As an non paying IV member, I am not in favor of opposing the current bill.
Please voice your concerns to IV Administrators or if you have any misunderstanding or less understanding about what's going on.
We all agree that Point system is more universal - But for guys who are waiting since 2001 ( say LC from CA/NY/NJ etc..) do you think its a justice
to go through Points system again from Scratch ??
Getting more VISA numbers to flush out the Half Million Backlog is 1st Priority according to Majority in this Forum ....

my lawyer just faxed me my I-485 receipt.
Center: NSC
RD: 26th July (sent on 25th July)
ND: 22nd Aug
140 was approved at NSC. No LUDs on my approved I-140 or H1s.
Attorney sent his checks, so don't know whether those checks are cleared or not.
Even though I applied 485, AP, EAD for me and for my wife in the same package, we
received receipt for only my I-495. Hey, I'm not complaining. Just passing this info to you guys.

I did try to talk to customer care but it was of no help.
They tell me to wait for 30 days and sometime 60-90days.
They say you will become actual permanent resident when you get the card The card is important.
You now USCIS don’t know when they will change their minds.
To better be on safe side to get it stamped on my passport. I took info pass on 09-11-08 it will be almost 30 days,

Are folks on this thread suggesting we contact (communicate our plans to !!!) numbersusa? They are not going to listen to us, I can guarantee you that --- even if we tone down our demands! They might use our plans to develop a more effective strategy for themselves; they hate us from the bottom of their hearts. This is the most ridiculous and impractical thing I've heard in a while.

I called on friday. Had to explain the lady that as per press-release, my receipt number should be issued. After 20 minutes of discussions, she escalated my call to another officer. She checked the database with my name, DOB and A# but she could not find any thing related to I-485.

Folks who opened an SR and had NSC-CSC-NSC transfers, what is the format of the ref # the Cust Service Rep gave you??
I got a # of the format T1NXXXXXXXXXXXCSC format.
I also got this format. but response, came from NSC after 30 days of filing SR.
I had called in the middle to confirm whether SR went to CSC. Rep said requests will get to apprpriate service center.
the other problem is for people like us, the status says " case traansferred and pending at uscis office". I find that reps find it hard to figure out where it is pending. because of wac number, they sometimes conclude it is CSC.
the status on phone says "pending at lincoln".

The checks for I-485 for my daughter and the checks for AP and EAD were not cashed though.
But again, looks like, July 3rd 9:03 received by R. Williams, is no more a MIA case.
By the way the receipt date is marked as Oct 10th. Service center is NSC.

My status on CRIS has changed. No emails. Its says my approval has been sent. But nothing about the card. I spoke to the CS and they said my biometrics have to be uploaded. In the mean time can I get my passport stamped?
One of my friend was in your situation. He got the I797 stating that 485 was approved. He took infopass and got the passport stamped. Hope this helps.
